Plug spawn is used to grow gourmet and medicinal mushrooms on freshly cut (green) hardwood logs or stumps left at 3-4 feet tall. Each bag contains 100-150 plugs, enough to inoculate 10 to 15 feet of 4-10-inch diameter cut logs! Once inoculated, the logs must be placed in a shady area exposed to natural rainfall and out of direct summer sun. Mushrooms begin to fruit in one or two years, and will continue to produce until the logs rot to the ground (anywhere from 5-10 years!). This is a great garden project and makes an excellent gift for the Do-It-Yourselfer. Includes easy to follow instructions--requires some tools.
